The CADLIFE of Family Business

Listen in as we talk with the DiLaura family of CADimensions about their long history of “pivoting” well before COVID-19, the risks of trying to reinvent the wheel when difficulty strikes and their unique company (and family) mission statement they affectionately named CADLIFE.

Peter DiLaura* – Chief Executive Officer

Pete DiLaura started CADimensions, Inc. in 1990 after spending several years in the Computer Aided Design and Manufacturing industry.  He held multiple sales and marketing positions with CAD/CAM software and hardware manufacturers before getting involved in the reseller channel.  He has grown CADimensions into a complete engineering and manufacturing software solutions provider for CAD, CAM, Product Data Management, Design Simulation, and 3D Printing Systems, along with an assortment of other engineering and manufacturing applications.  Pete has been at the helm of CADimensions since inception and has now finalized his 10-year succession plan with tuning the operation of the company over to his two sons.

In his spare time, Pete enjoys spending time with his wife Tara, along with their 3 children and 6 grandchildren.  Pete is also on the Board of Trustees for LeMoyne College, his and Tara’s Alma Mater, the Board of Directors for Onondaga Golf and Country Club and is actively engaged with the NY Family Business Center at LeMoyne College.

Andrew DiLaura* – President

Andy has been part of CADimensions since 2007 and along with his brother Tom is part of the 2nd generation for CADimensions.  In his role as President he is responsible for working with a team of 55+ employees across the Northeast to ensure revenue targets and growth goals are met. Prior to his current role, Andy has served as an account manager, Sales Manager & VP of Sales & Marketing during his 15 years at CADimensions.

Outside of CADimensions, Andy sits on the Board of Directors at the NY Family Business Center and enjoys spending time with his wife Corrine, and coaches a variety of youth sports for his daughter and son.  Andy is a 2005 graduate of St. John Fisher College and prior to joining CADimensions he worked as Director of Ticket Operations for the Rochester Redwings, a Triple-A baseball team in Rochester, NY.

Thomas DiLaura* – Executive Vice President

Tom has been part of CADimensions since 2013.  In his role as Executive Vice President of Technical Services he is responsible for working with the technical staff at CADimensions, to ensure customers have the best support and services experiences. Tom started as an application engineer and grew through different department and management positions. Prior to CADimensions, Tom spent five years as a Systems Architect at General Dynamics working on submarine weapons systems for the US Navy.

In his free time Tom enjoys spending time with his wife Casey and their 18-month-old son and going on family trips. He sits on the Board of the Syracuse Gaelic Football Team and is an active member of the NY Family Business Center. Tom earned his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Union College in 2009 and a Master of Science in Systems Architecting and Engineering from USC in 2011.
